Hypothetically If I Needed A Rug...

Department: Home Decor

I totally don't need a new rug for the living room. That is if it's okay that our current rug (which should not even be classified as a rug as it's a remnant that we had bound and is now covered in various stains and is about only an 1/2 inch thick) looks like it belongs as flooring in a scary van.

Maybe it's just my maternal instincts setting in since we are about to have another baby and I know that "floor time" is essential. I feel like baby needs something a bit more plush. A bit more stylish to have her photo taken on than said: brown. gross. van. rug.

IF I were to have my pick I may choose something like this rug which I found when scrolling through about a thousand of then at Target.com. I would need something as close to 8x10 as possible....

What do you think? Has anyone ordered rugs from Target? Quality? Not so much? Also what about all of their new furniture? Share at the beep.

BEEP.

  • I bought two rugs from target about 3.5 years ago -- one for a high traffic area and one for under a table. Both have held up beautifully.

  • I had a rug from Target I used in my son's play area and I have to say it didn't hold up well. It was constantly "fuzzed up", just from every day use and care. It's in storage now and if I can find a place for it where it's mostly under something or not played or trampled upon everyday, I'll get it out because I love how it looks, but I won't use it in a high-traffic area again.

  • I have two Target rugs. Both are underneath tables. One "fuzzes" like cdpj says. I have to use a handvac to clean it because any upright just pulls at it. My second one is great -- but I have to admit, I don't think it's very thick...could be thicker. But they are both very nice rugs. Good for the price.

  • We purchased a rug from Target several years ago and it has held up fantastically! It's in our living room (in a very high traffic area) on the carpet. It's not really plush, but we got it for a color splash. I did have to purchase a "sticky" sheet to put under the rug to keep it from walking away as we walked on it. But we are very happy with it!

  • I bought one of their high pile shag rugs about 3 years ago. It still looks nice. Some of the twisted fibers have come untwisted a bit and it's fuzzier than it used to be, but if you didn't know that, you wouldn't notice. And jeez, for $79, you can't beat it! :)

  • I have a three rugs 2 where from "dorm collection" a few years ago and they do indeed fuzz up but they where 3.00 on clearance. The other is a rug I've had for three years similar to the one you posted and it's awesome. It's held up beautifully.

  • I think if you buy the "dorm rugs," they tend to not last as long as the ones intended for "grownups" (ha). I bought a dorm rug there a few years ago and had to throw it out because it got icky, but a friend of mine (who, admittedly, takes much better care of her things than i do) still has hers and it looks like new. I think it would definitely still be plush and pretty for the new baby, at least.

  • I have 2 rugs; same pattern, just different sizes. The 8x10 has held up beautifully. The small one; I'd guess 18"x30" (which was only purchased to cover a spot where my dog chewed up the carpet) is VERY fuzzy. They both get traffic, but the small rug gets constant traffic.
The are the burbur type, not plush.
I'd describe them as they type they sell which are all the same and are available in a variety of patterns.

  • I bought a rug at target about 3 years ago, and so far so good... that is, except my husband has burnt a hole in it with firewood that fell out of the fireplace. but other than that, great rug for a great price!
