Ok It's Over

Department: News

THE BLOG IS BACK!

Stick a fork in my blog, I think it's done. Sad but true. I have enjoyed my 15+ minutes (2 years+) of fame but I am a busy girl with lots of ideas and must move on. Since Katie Couric never called while she was hosting the Today show to have me on and talk about my blog and our mutual love for Target you can blame her.

I love Target, always have, always will. Thanks to all of you for reading and writing to me and supporting the blog and making me feel all warm and fuzzy.

If any of you invent a 30 hour day instead of 24 let me know and I will make time to come back!

love
STT

PS. A few people have written in that they want me to consider having guest bloggers to share the workload. While I appreciate the sentiments here is my response:

Thanks! I have thought about it but it's still work. I will consider and let you know! It's kind of a pain in the ass to police the bloggers though and there is no pay, nothing good like that, believe it or not most volunteer writers come back once they see how hard it is and demand pay....

We are doing it! It will be a group blog! email us at slavetotarget@yahoo dot com if you think you have the chops to write among the hardest shopping Target lovers EVER!

  • Have you considered making this a group blog? But I think there are a lot of us out there that could fill the pages of Slave to Target until such time that you are a little less busy. You would still be credited as the mastermind behind this site, and go on the interviews with Katie, naturally. My qualifications: I shop at Target 3-4 times/week, and I'm not there just for toilet paper!

  • My first thought was also "why not a group blog?" You don't have to monitor posts at all. You approve who's going to write/post and if you don't trust the blogger, you just don't have her in the group. I belong to several knit-along group blogs & have never seen any problems.

My second thought was: Thanks for the blog. It was fun. :)

    RE: Corporate Policy

    Dear Bob;

I just received a member update from the Hoosier AAA Motor Club, and they had your logo and web URL on the front page, which reminded me to let you know of my recent disdain for your company. I will not soon shop at a Target store again, unless you reverse your recent policy and terminate those involved--too bad, you have a great kitchen department, and I am a professional chef.

This is about, as you may by now have assumed, the Muslim cashiers in Minneapolis who refuse to scan items containing pork. These jerks were hired to do a job, namely to scan your merchandise and collect money. They accepted the job knowing full well that you sold pork products. They had scanned your pork products in the past. They suddenly got together and conspired to make a big issue about scanning pork products, and simultaneously on a preconceived date suddenly revolted, refusing to scan pork products.

You and your company capitulated to them, and that deeply disturbs me. Your decision absolutely sends the wrong message to dissenters. It seems as though in America today, all one need do in order to have their way is throw a temper-tantrum. When I was a child, I quickly learned that all a tantrum (id est. rebellion) would land me was a smack on the head.

I am certain how aware you are of Muslims in Minneapolis pushing the envelope, and seeing just how far we Americans can be pushed—just what you and I will put up with. I refer specifically to the Minneapolis cab drivers that refuse to take any fare that has alcohol in his luggage.

The people hired by your company as cashiers were hired to execute a specific task, which they refused to do. I would have fired them on the spot, even at a level as low as assistant manager, for refusing to do the job they were hired to do. They were transferred to other departments within your company solely to avoid “offending” them. Well, hacking the head off of American journalist Daniel Pearl with a dull sword offends me. Flying our own aircraft into two of our landmark skyscrapers offends me. Capitulating to these whiners in Minneapolis offends me. And, by extension, you offend me.

America did not become great be capitulating to a minority of peon dissenters unworthy of licking my feet. This country became great by standing firm for that in which we believed. Political correctness has been our major flaw since the 1980’s, and unless something is done to curb it in a hurry, will be the downfall of this country, I fear, within my lifetime. If we had the same set of people occupying this country in 1774 that we do today, we would still be speaking with British accents, sipping high tea at 4 P.M., and compelling God to save the queen. However, we have this set of people in this country today, and what you and your company have told me by your very actions is that I need to convert to Islam and learn Arabic, and that I need to enroll in the language class next semester.

While I do believe that we should respect the religions of those immigrants to our Country, we shall not bend to the whims of those same religions, nor shall we adopt those religious beliefs into Law. THIS is what the Founding Fathers did intend to be meant by the “separation of Church and State”. Those cashiers of yours fully intend to use our Justice System to enact via legal judgments Sharia Law in this Country, make no mistake about it. Today, Muslims need not scan pork; in five years it will be illegal to scan pork. Today, Muslims may opt not to carry passengers if their parcels contain alcohol; in ten years we revisit Prohibition.

Bob, whose side are you on, sir? Grow a pair already! Are you an American, or are you an Anti-American? I truly want to know. And, just to let you know, I will not only send this letter to you, but will also post it on my two blog sites, my Yahoo!360 page, and send it to my full address book which includes Rush Limbaugh and Neal Boortz. It is apparent that you, sir, do not understand the significance of the color red used for seven of the thirteen stripes on the Flag of the greatest Country on God’s Green Earth.

    Very Sincerely,
